Vacation rentals are usually apartments and condos they can range and are usually more than one room. If you have kids the extra space is a good idea.
These rentals may be located in touristic areas, or inside a large resort, a residential area, or up into the countryside. You can find them in the city, or on the beach.
A beach rental may have elevated prices, just because it’s on the beach.
You can find rentals that cost less than touristic sight hotel rooms.
This way you get more “for the dollar”, since this rentals usually have kitchen facilities.

Many supermarkets make “Hot Meals” for lunch and dinner.
Most local places serve meals between $6.00 and $10.00 a plate.

Puerto Rico has lots of fast foods chains you’re used to see- Burger King, McDonald, Dominos, etc.
There are also mid-prices chow-downs like Chilli’s , Ponderosa, Sizzler’s, etc.
